Commentary

Avatar of commenter Thank you for your report! This is not EAB, which makes S-shaped galleries under the bark of ash trees (EAB does not attack other forest trees). The beetle visible in your first photo is a bark-gnawing beetle, Temnoscheila chlorodia, which is not a wood-borer itself but a predator of wood-boring beetle larvae. The larvae in your second photo look like wood-borer grubs (but not enough detail for ID).
