Description of specimen

Species observed was a snapping turtle. Photo shows wide flat shell. I was able to get closer by wading into the pond a bit and could positively identify it as a snapping turtle by it's head and rear legs/tail. It was fairly large, shell probably 16 inches in length. Turtle was alive as it moved after being disturbed.
