Description of specimen

Submitter does not have a specimen

It was sitting on the leaf of a calendula, planted in a garden box. We noticed it because of how colorful it is . The greens and reds were like they had been painted on.

Commentary

Avatar of commenter Thank you for your report. Unfortunately, without a specimen or a good picture, we cannot make a species determination. If you encounter suspect EAB, please take a few photos or capture the specimen and put it in a crush proof container so we can identify it.

The Identification page at OregonEAB.com has resources to help you identify EAB and well as its many look-alikes.

Thank you for being on the lookout for EAB! Your description of bright red and green sounds like it could possibly be another native beetle, the Jewel Beetle.
