Brown beetle like about 2 inches long with long antlers.

Avatar of commenter Thank you for your report! This is California Prionus, our SECOND largest native beetle. They are not pests. Their grubs live in dead conifer stumps and logs.

Location

Found in firewood pile outside on 8/12/26... first thought it was a coachroach so I wacked it with a piece of wood. Today, saw it had moved onto the asphalt driveway. It is darker now than when I 1st found it
