Thank you for this report and correct identification of Crocosmia (Crocosmia aurea). Good catch.
With that said, there is an Oregon State Noxious Weed list and this plant is not listed on it. It is definitely not a native plant to the the United States, rather native to Africa and Madagascar.
It is cautioned to keep this plant in confinements of gardens and landscapes, not allowing it to spread. This would be a good example of how newly invasive plants begin their journey towards EDRR level. TCSWCD urges all landowners to seek out native vegetation while planning to plant in gardens, landscapes, riparian, and other areas. Always evaluate the risk of non-native plants before purchasing them.
