Land Plants - invasive

Knotweed (unknown species) (Fallopia sp.) on Jun 10, 2012

Originally reported as Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica)

Submitter does not have a specimen
EDRR Status: Population treated

Description of specimen

This undeveloped property is a wet area near the bottom of a draw that drains runoff from SW Fairmount Blvd and points above. There is a moderate sized patch of Japanese knotweed just back from the curb, probably less than 1000 square feet. There have been other sightings of JKW in the general vicinity.

Commentary

I'd be happy to snap digital photos of the invaders if necessary, but I am 99.9 % confident that if this is not Japanese knotweed, it is one of the other invasive knotweeds.

Hi, Paul. Thanks for your report. That patch is on our treatment agenda, and got its first dose last fall. We'll certainly be returning this year, particularly if it maybe hasn't responded that well. I've given a fuller response to your direct email about this patch. Thanks, as always, for checking in.
