Spurge Laurel (Daphne laureola) on Jun 18, 2012

Description of specimen

My yard has a lot of spurge laurel in it. We want to remove it before the birds eat the berries but we aren't sure how to dispose of it. Is there a place where we can take it? We don't just want to put it in the compost.

Commentary

How can we dispose of it safely?

Hi, Clare. Sorry for the delayed response. The best option for ripe spurge berries at this point is really the trash. If you wanted to clip them, so the rest of the plants could go in yard debris, that'd be a workable option, too. Feel free to contact me directly (mitch.bixby@portlandoregon.gov) if you have other questions.
