Description of specimen

1 plant in backyard garden bed, perhaps 6" tall this evening.

There are two additional plants, much taller, probablty 3+ feet tall, in the planting strip at the end of the street across the street from us. I will let the owner know about the invasiveness of the plants as soon as I can.

Commentary

Do I dig this plant out myself or do you take care of it? It's only about 6 inches tall at this point.

Hi, Edith. Thanks for your email. In general, we're leaving the management on private property to the homeowners. Fortunately, now's a great time to be digging out the little shoots; be sure they go in the trash, though, so the roots don't form new plants elsewhere. I'll put a note on our map that you've got it there, and will do a survey of the area, plus take a look at the planting strip. Feel free to contact me directly (mitch.bixby@portlandoregon.gov) if need be.
