Description of specimen

Has the smooth shoulders, and white striping on antennae. I have the bug in a zip-lock bag, but don't have a camera with me. If you want it, please call me. 503.819.7828.

Commentary

Hi Jane, thank you for your report. During the past several years, brown marmorated stink bugs have been firmly established in the Portland metropolitan area and surrounding areas. There are numerous pictures of these bugs on the Internet, so I suspect you looked at yours and compared it to photos online. For your information, there are also several native stink bugs in Oregon, though, so if you would like a true confirmation, please feel free to ask someone to take a picture of the insect and you can post it online, or you can send the bug to the Oregon Department of Agriculture, Plant Division, 635 Capitol St NE, Salem, Oregon, 97310, and they can provide a positive identification.
