Description of specimen

Insects signs have been found in Betula jacquemontii.
Exit holes, tunnels and branch die back observed.

Commentary

Dead wood has been removed.
Treatment with approved systemic insecticide will occur in early spring 2013.

Hi William, thank you for your report. Dan Hilburn with the Oregon Dept. Agriculture will be calling you. He believes the species in question is the bronze birch borer, a species that attacks birch. It usually attacks trees that are stressed. Thanks for your report. Lisa DeBruyckere
