Description of specimen
Orconectes neglectus. Ringed crayfish. I am an ODFW biologist- positive ID. I've seen three of these animals in the Chetco so far.

Craig, thanks for your report. This may be the first reported sighting of ringed crayfish in this area - I'll check with others on this.

I collected three claws from the South Fork/Mainstem pool yesterday clearly showing the orange tip and black bands characteristic of this species. Would you like the specimens?

Remedy
Never move live crayfish from one area to another.
