Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) on Aug 27, 2013

Submitter does not have a specimen
EDRR Status: Local expert notified

Description of specimen

About 8 tall stalks clumped together on the bank of the river. Tall stalks with many blossoms surrounding the stem, deep pink in color. Small leaves clustered around stems.

Commentary

There is currently a park host on the grounds who might be able to remove this clump. It really stands out from everything. There are no other flowers near it.

Dear Dr. Barbara Coombs,

Thank you so much for reporting purple loosestrife at Jasper State Park. I will forward this to the Oregon State Parks and find out if they can help coordinate a removal. As you suggest, perhaps the park host can help.

Thanks,
Tania
