Large very dark moth that I hadn't seen before. It seemed to appear after a friend of mine stored some drums shipped from Uganda on my patio and in my garage.
Commentary
Hi Christina, the OSU insect identification lab believes this insect is a Noctuid (cutworm). The biologist couldn't make out enough of the wing pattern to be certain but it looks like it could be a member of the genus Euxoa given the “brow” and dark coloration. There are several species of Euxoa in OR and several are Agricultural pests.
