Land Plants - invasive

American Pokeweed (Phytolacca americana) on Sep 10, 2015

Submitter does not have a specimen
EDRR Status: Local expert notified

Description of specimen

Large mature pokeweed plant with heavy "fruit/seed" crop at location above. Small, new starts scattered through neighborhood. Seems like this could be a good time to jump on it (after surveying larger area for abundance)...

Hi Michelle,
Thanks so much for this report! I am actually in Washington DC right now, and I see pokeweed everywhere! We definitely need to be proactive about this species, otherwise we are doomed for the same. I'll forward this report to the City of Eugene and copy you. Hope you had fun in The Whit! Thanks for reporting!
Take care,
Tania
