Description of specimen

The plant in question is Sagittaria platyphylla or Delta Arrowhead. Only known population within the State of Oregon. First noticed in 2013 as a "strange" form of Sagittaria platyphylla, the plant increased from 5-10 individuals in 2013 to >1000 in 2014. The plant was then identified by Robert Haynes, author of the Sagittaria treatment in Flora of North America as S. platyphylla. The population has undergone chemical control in 2014 and 2015 with 3% glyphosate. Results have been promising so far with a diminished population of <50 as of 2015. Mechanical removal poses a high risk of spread due to an abundance of reproductive corms in the root system.
