Land Plants - invasive

Scots Broom (Cytisus scoparius) on Jul 27, 2008

Submitter has sample

Description of specimen

I notified the campground host, he pulled it out with his pickup and turned the plant in to the forest service in Johnday. The plant had a tap root about 1 and 1/2 to two inches in dia. The plant had dark green foilage with bright yellow flowers. I recognized it from all of the scotch broom I have seem on the west side. I did not follow up with the FS to see if the plant made it to the right folks. This is the first scotch broom plant I have seen on the East side. Don't want that stuff here.

Commentary

Richard, thanks so much for identifying the plant and taking action! Great job! It's people like you, observing plants in new locations, that are helping to control and manage invasive species in Oregon. Thanks again for your swift, responsible action.
