Large web woven around leaves and branches, caterpillars crawling on it
Commentary
Thank you for your report to the Hotline! Tent caterpillars are native across much of the west. While they do cause damage to trees, it is generally not enough to warrant management. Outbreaks tent to last a couple years and then the populations subside again.
At the end of Hurricane Creek Road near the trail head for the entrance to the Eagle Cap Wilderness in the Wallowa Whitman. Down by the creek. In a shrub to the left of a metal picnic table by the creek. Please feel free to call me. I didn't remove it, I wasn't sure if it should be removed.
