Description of specimen

What appear to be gypsy moth caterpillar nests in various trees, 12-15 feet up.

Commentary

Hi Tom, This looks like fall webworm, a native species that is not generally considered a pest. Our hardwood trees and shrubs can handle the slight defoliation caused by this insect with no long-term implications. If the sight of the webbing bugs you, you can physically remove them or use soapy water.
