Description of specimen

Noticed several specimens next to the trail. Some young, some mature and a couple in bloom.

Commentary

Thank-you for checking in about your find. Fortunately, the plant in the photo is not giant hogweed, but a native relative called seaside angelica. Giant hogweed grows an average of 10-12' and generally blooms in mid June. I've attached a photo of a giant hogweed plant that was found in the landscaping of a house in Washington County last year for comparison. It is in the early bud stage in this photo (forming at the top).
