Description of specimen

I don't know what the name of the plant is (see pictures). I first found it near my house in 2016 and I've been digging it up wherever I see it. In August 2017 I observed several plants on the dunes to the East of my house (also my property) which I plan to dig up this week. It's a low ground cover with very sharp seeds. Seems like it could be very destructive.

Commentary

Hello and thank you for making a report to the Oregon Invasive Species Hotline! This looks like sandmat, Cardionema ramossissimum, which is a native plant found along the western US coast. It is very spiky, but it is native and common.

If you're interested in taking the Oregon Forest Pest Detector training, the next meetings and online course info is at http://pestdetector.forestry.oregonstate.edu/programs/registration-and-online-course
