Description of specimen

Reddish brown beetle approximately 2 inches in length. Long antenna and large mandibles.

Thank you for reporting this insect! Fortunately, this beetle is native and poses no harm. The ponderous borer only develops on fallen or recently killed trees and is not a threat to live trees. If you see anything else that looks suspicious, please feel free to report. Have a great week!
