Location

In 2018, Italian arum was located in the planting beds in the parking lot and surrounding areas of the Adult Community Center, which is operated by the Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation Department. Hundreds of plants were present: my wife and I cut off all the seed heads. This year, she and I are actively pulling the plant. We know from experience that this will not kill or even remove the plant as we rarely are able to get the corm and small roots. But we do hope to retard its spread, particularly down the steep north slope which leads to Tryon Creek State Park. We have removed 14 garbage bags of plants (into the trash) so far and estimate we have one more work session on the north slope. We are somewhat elderly and the slope presents a serious obstacle in terms of access.
