False Brome (Brachypodium sylvaticum) on Nov 25, 2008

Description of specimen

This was the first known sighting of false brome in Tillamook County. There were several scattered clumps along 1000' stretch of floodplain. Since then false brome has been found downstream of Foot Bridge Trail Recreation site as much as 15 miles at Mill Bridge County Park. Samples were sent to BLM botanists for positive species identification.

Thanks so much for logging this report of false brome on the hotline. Also thanks for the other reports of false brome and garlic mustard. It is so unfortunte to see these plant spreading into the Tillamook area. I will do my best to help identify the best plan for best response to these reports.
