Meadow Knapweed (Centaurea × moncktonii) on Nov 25, 2008

Submitter does not have a specimen
EDRR Status: Local expert notified

Description of specimen

It was similar to spotted and diffuse knapweed, with which I am familiar, but more squat and vegetative, and i think the flowers were a bit larger. At this point they are brown and dried up, but I'm sure there will be more in the spring.

Commentary

Dear Karen,

Thanks so much for reporting your meadow knapweed sightings via the hotline. I will forward these reports to the appropriate person to learn who can take the lead in responding. I as am pretty sure meadow knapweed is fairly abundant along HWY 36, so it is possible that site wont get prioritized for control, however the sight along the river should probably get some immediate attention.

Thanks again, I'll let you know how things go!
