Description of specimen

herbaceous plant - very dense, nearly impossible to pull out, forms extremely dense fibrous root system. Somewhat resembles an annual in the mint family that germinates and is commonly found in gardens at this time of year. But this plant does not seem like an annual and does not pull easily at all.

Low-growing, leaves are alternate, scalloped, small blue flowers in the axils.

Attached photo was taken mid-October 2019.

I first noticed this plant in my garden mid-summer and pulled some but did not realize that it was a problem weed. It hid under my pumpkins and squash and easily took off once the plants started to die back.
