Land Plants - invasive

Ivy, English or Atlantic (Hedera helix or Hedera hibernica) on Jan 4, 2009

Submitter does not have a specimen

Description of specimen

I've lived outside Dundee for ten years and always notice the ivy in the wooded areas N & NW of Dundee. (see link) However after tjhe last big snow storm it looked more serious than I imagined. Every single tree in the Dundee watershed and surrounding area is infested with English Ivy. It has topples some beautiful and huge trees and is visibly killing what's left.

Commentary

It seems the wine growers would have a vested interested in preserving the vital strips of forest left between the vineyards.
