Description of specimen

many starts next to the house in the flower beds, some as tall as 6 to 8 feet,they really stink, kinda smell like tobacco They seem to have deep roots and spread VERY fast.

Thanks for reporting tree of heaven. Yes, this is a very aggressive plant that can cause serious damage to private property and to natural systems, especially riparian areas. I forwarded your report to the city of Portland, and they requested that you contact them so they can determine whether they are able to help you control the plants on your property.
