Land Plants - invasive

Himalayan Blackberry (Rubus bifrons [R. aremeniacus, R. discolor, R. procerus]) on Feb 25, 2009

Submitter does not have a specimen

Description of specimen

There is a very large stand of Himalayan blackberry in the creek area behind the strip mall South of Sunnyside Road on 124th Ave. I would guess the coverage at at least 1.5 acres.

Commentary

Hi Barbara, thanks again for another report. Himalayan blackberry is well established throughout the Portland metropolitan area, like starlings and other species. We hope individuals in local communities take action against these well established invasives, though - it is possible to reduce and control the spread of these invasive species if people work together to control them.

Thank you for your report.
