Description of specimen

while sitting in a field throwing a ball for my dog. i noticed something and looked down and my shoes and socks were covered in ants and pulled up my pant leg and there was a large number of ants on my leg biting me. The bites seemed mild but have really developed into being quite uncomfortable. Not sure if they were IFAs or Thatching or Harvester ants- there we no noticeable mounds but I did vacate the area rather quickly. we have gone to this park and sat in the grass dozens of not hundreds of times and never encountered biting ants before.
Fire ant bites?

Commentary

Dear Warren, sorry to hear about your ant encounter. If you can give us a location on the park, we would like to check this out. Yes, we do have a few biting ants that are native or exotic, but not RIFA, however, we want to take a look at that field.
