Red-Eared Slider Turtle (Trachemys scripta elegans) on Mar 29, 2009

Description of specimen

The Gilbert house discovery village in salem, oregon is keeping a red eared slider on display. The sign states that the slider was "rescued" from the Umatilla river. I feel that it is irresponsible and wrong for an educational institution such as the gilbert house to be putting out the idea that red eared sliders are appropriate pets in oregon, because they are not. They are illegal.
