White-Spotted Sawyer (Monochamus scutellatus) on Jun 29, 2020

Originally reported as Insect or Spider (unknown species) (various)

Description of specimen

A large beetle like insect with zebra like bands on the antennae. Also irregular white spots on the black body. It did fly also. (We have a few pictures of it)

Commentary

Dear Linda, looks like a native fir sawyer, Monochamus scutellatus. It doesn't seem to be the invasive Asian longhorned beetle. Thank you, Helmuth Rogg
