It's a 3-4 inch caterpillar that looks similar to a Texas Sphinx Moth larve.

Dear Leif, thank you for contacting us re the larva of the Sphingidae moth. This is Hyles lineata, the white-lined Sphinx moth, a native moth throughout the Pacific Northwest.
