Commentary

Dear Delia, unfortunately I don't see any images of your "cucaracha". Oregon does have cockroaches, but you might be on the correct path with Prionus californicus. It is a longhorned beetle of the family Cerambycidae. It is a native beetle and not harmful to us. Its larvae feed on firs that may be weakened or sick. Sometimes, insects can get attracted by lights and that is how you find them close to your house or sometimes they make it inside, but they are harmless.

Dear Delia, definitely Prionus. Looks like a male with serrated antenna.
Cheers, Helmuth
