European Green Crab (Carcinus maenas) on Jul 8, 2021

Description of specimen

Found three specimens of the Green crab. I have crabbed in the Siletz Bay for a decade. I have only found Dungeness crab and a few red rock crabs, and am familiar with how they look. This year, we caught three specimens of a strange crab I did not recognize and had not seen in the regulations. They were closer to the size of a red rock crab, but uglier with longer slinky legs. They were blackish in color, and two were spotted with yellow, and one was spotted with green. After I returned home, I looked on the ODFW website and immediately recognized the crabs as looking like the European green crab.
