Land Plants - invasive

Gorse (Ulex europaeus) on Feb 15, 2022

Submitter does not have a specimen
EDRR Status: Ongoing monitoring

Description of specimen

There vast majority of the cliff bank consists of gorse in the vicinity of the stairs down to the beach. I didn't walk far beyond this small cove of beach, but there are likely in 100+ plants in this small location that are likely to spread to the north and south along the exposed coastal cliff.

Commentary

Thanks Josh! This population has been under active management for many years. Currently all the beach/cliff gorse is under bio-control with gorse thrips (managed by Joel at ODA) and Lincoln county Weed Control is treating all gorse by foliar herbicide up around the lawn area. We are also monitoring this carefully to prevent spread. Thanks for keeping your eyes open!
