Description of specimen

Approximately 3/4 of an inch long. Emerald Green body and head with small antennae. Oblong oval shape.

Commentary

This is a native metallic wood boring beetle, Buprestis viridisuturalis. It is not considered a pest. Thank you for your report!

Location

The suspected Emerald Ash Borer was found on Hog Island on the Willamette River near Lake Oswego and West Linn, Oregon. The specimen was found on the north face of the island sitting on a rock which was on a small beach.
