Found this dead insect that looks like a Facebook post I just saw. Date is on picture. March.

Commentary

Cannot confirm species. Entomologist suggests golden buprestis (B. aurulenta).

Thank you for your report! As Emily commented, this is likely the native, non-destructive species, the golden buprestid, Buprestis aurulenta, though there are a few other species of Buprestis beetle around, that are not of concern. Emerald ash borers are about half the size of golden buprestids and a quarter as wide.
