Submitter does not have a specimen

Description of specimen

Caterpillar or larva, roughly 2" long and about 3/8" across. I moved it as my cat was trying to play with it and I was concerned it might be poisonous if he at it. When disturbed it was very active, twisting from full stretched to a C shape so fast it would hop a little. Maroon circles on the underside. After putting it into a new location out of cat reach, it stopped moving, maybe playing dead or being dead. I couldn't find anything on the internet among the native caterpillars of Oregon, although it does sort of look like an Old Wife Underwing Moth, but the range didn't seem to match well. Thought I would send pass it out just in case, also out of curiosity of what it is.
