I thought it was a wasp at first but noticed it was much bigger

Commentary

Thank you for your report! That is not Asian giant hornet. That is a cicada killer wasp (genus Sphecius). I am attaching a graphic that highlights the differences. No Asian giant hornets have been found in Oregon so far. Thank you for being on the lookout!
