Commentary
Awesome picture! This luckily is the Golden Jewel Beetle (Bubrestis Aurulenta). Native to the Northwest. This bug is allowed to live free and wild, no need to exterminate, and you will continue to find them this time of year. -Michael, TCSWCD
We were up the Coast Range Road - past were WP (or WR) cuts off to the left but before where the OSP relay is. We were on a spur road that went off to the right - has vegetation growing up in the middle of it - and up a ways has short section that is fairly steep with a "boulder field" effect. We were past this on the "flat" area before the final steep incline to the landing.
