I found this dry body in my front yard when I was raking under the Douglas fir. I had previously seen the holes in my ash tree when I first read about the borer, and the first hole looked like the right shape. But then I realized that the first hole is actually a couple of overlapping holes, and I thought that they were the work of a sapsucker. This guy is certainly emerald and looks enough like the images I've seen to be worth reporting. It was not near the ash, which is on the opposite of the house, if that matters. I've been told that my ash is not a native ash. It's a volunteer so nothing that I planted although I've come to appreciate it.
