Description of specimen

flying beetles...
multiple redish hue/colored stripes on back...
red color under wings (can see when flying)...
burrowing into tree causing up to 1+" diameter holes in tree...

Essentially, these are harmless insects. The western boxelder bug is found only in central Nevada, Arizona, Texas, and also along the West Coast extending to British Columbia - in places where boxelders grow.
