Description of specimen

big beetle. I think its a type of long horn beetle... not sure where it came from. only have seen one. It died. after it died I put in a cup to bring into you guys to look at. doesn't quite look like a brown spruce long horn beetle. but it could be.

This is not an invasive insect. This is our native California root borer, Prionus californicus. Their grubs feed in dead conifer stumps. They are not tree killers.

Thank you for your report! That is a type of Longhorned beetle: Prionus californicus, the California root borer. They are not tree killers. Their grubs feed in rotting conifer stumps and logs.
