Resting bug on a canvas. Not quite an inch long.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! This is the "Small milkweed bug", Lygaeus kalmii. They suck sap from many plants in addition to milkweeds.

Big back yard urban Seattle. Big grapevine arbor.
