I believe it is a Little Bear Beetle, paracotalpa ursina.

Your identification is correct! No, this species is not invasive nor is it considered a pest insect. This is a native species. Thanks for being on the lookout!

Location

Desert, hilly, sandy and rocky ground. It was beside a trail on a leaf.
