Lesser Celandine (Ranunculus ficaria) on Feb 19, 2010

Submitter does not have a specimen
EDRR Status: Local expert notified

Description of specimen

Clearly Lesser Celandine (Ranunculus ficaria). Glossy heart-shaped leaves, starting to form buds on Feb 14. The clump was small (<1 m in diameter). I did not have the opportunity to search the area for other clumps.

Commentary

I would be happy to point out the patch, as finding the particular bit of trail can be tricky. I can also help with control.

Hi Amanda,

Thank you so much for reporting lesser celandine. And, thank you for your offer to help! I will follow up to see if anyone can take the lead in contacting the land owner and planning a response. I will contact the SWCD and the Watershed Council to see if they are concerned and would like to have a role in assessing and controlling. Perhaps we can arrange to visit the site, as you suggest! Stay tuned!

Thanks,
