Description of specimen

Multiple cases of thin and tall shrub with blackish brown seed pods. This was found in April and there was no flowering bloom yet.

Commentary

With scotch broom, it's so widespread that we never have enough resources to throw at it. In some areas, it's very much worth volunteer efforts or landowner commitment to reduce the populations. If you're thinking of trying to pull some of the broom in county parks, I'd consult with Adam.Stebbins@Co.Benton.OR.US. Thanks for the report.

Location

Found while walking in Fitton Green Natural Area near Cardwell Hill Road Trail. Found multiple cases of Scotch Broom/French broom (Cytisus Scoparius) an invasive plant native to Europe. Found in multiple spots along the trail. Most specimens were found in larger fields seemingly close to the walking trails. At time of viewing multiple specimens had brown and dried seed pods. This is a maintained trail and is worrisome due to its close range with native species.
