Description of specimen

A beetle around half an inch long landed on my arm in my yard. It was slim, kind of torpedo shaped and bright metallic green with red on each wing. The red areas were more of a patch than a stripe. I wondered with horror if it was an emerald ash borer. It flew away and I did not get a photo.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! There are a number of iridescent green look-alike beetles in Oregon that are not pests. I am attaching a link to the ODA EAB webpage with some photos of other Oregon insects that could be mistaken for EAB

Thanks for being on the lookout!
