Description of specimen

Found in our yard while doing yard work near pur apple tree.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! That is Noctua pronuba, the Large yellow underwing moth, the adult of the Winter cutworm. They are a European invasive, but already very well established in the Willamette Valley.
