White-Spotted Sawyer (Monochamus scutellatus) on Jun 13, 2023

Originally reported as Asian Longhorned Beetle (Anoplophora glabripennis)

Description of specimen

This MIGHT be an Asian Longhorned Beetle, which I'm familiar with because I work in the nursery industry, but I'm told it's probably a Sawyer beetle which is similar looking but is native. Thought I would report it and send a pic just in case.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! This is not ALB, it is the White-spotted sawyer beetle, Monochamus scutellatus. This is probably the closest look-alike to ALB, but is rough-textured instead of smooth and shiny like ALB, which can be seen in your excellent photo (thanks!).
